Friends and Family,
I am honored and excited to share that I will be running the 2023 TCS NYC Marathon as a member of Team Sharsheret.
Sharsheret is a national not-for-profit organization that helps women and families living with or at increased genetic risk for breast or ovarian cancer. Through personalized support and educational outreach, Sharsheret saves lives.
It is particularly meaningful for me to support Sharsheret's cause. My mom, known by many as Dr. Horowitz, served the greater New Haven community for over 40 years as a breast surgeon. She was one of the first female breast surgeons in the area and treated thousands of patients and families impacted by breast diseases over her career. In 2013, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and found herself on the receiving end of the horrible diagnosis she had helped so many with. Her experience, knowledge, and support system led her to catch the cancer early and seek treatment which ultimately helped her prevail over the disease. Not all are as fortunate and Sharsheret provides resources at every stage-before, during, and after diagnosis- for those at risk.
