Dear Friends and Family ,
I am very excited to share with you that I am an official member of Team Sharsheret for the 2022 TCS NYC Marathon.
I have been running for about 10 years, and recently celebrated my 40th birthday. I felt inspired to undertake this rigorous challenge as I am doing it in support of Sharsheret, a national not-for-profit organization supporting women and families, at high risk and those facing breast and ovarian cancer at every stage-before, during, and after diagnosis.
It is particularly meaningful for me to race on behalf of Sharsheret because of the support they provide for those who are touched by breast and ovarian cancer. Having been faced with the first time prospect of having a mammogram, I began to consider this screening tool as a gift for early detection of breast cancer. Instead of fear, I felt hope and gratitude, and that having had a clear mammogram is something I felt tremendously thankful for my health. Others are not as fortunate, and statistically, 12.9% of women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lifetime. Sharsheret is the only organization that provides the vital culturally relevant support that is desperately needed for those facing breast and ovarian cancer. As I continually hear about the wonderful resource Shasheret is for many friends and thousands of others locally and nationally, I am hopeful that I can help make a difference by taking on this personal challenge and joining with the other members of Team Sharsheret.As a member of this incredible Team, I have pledged to raise funds (which I hope togreatly exceed!) in support of Sharsheret's breast cancer and ovarian cancer programs and services. In honor of my 40th birthday, I am asking you to please support me in my athletic and fundraising efforts as I take on this challenge! All contributions are tax-deductible.
