Hi everyone!
I am very excited to share with you that I am an official member of Team Sharsheret for the 2022 TCS NYC Marathon.
After several half marathons, I ran my first marathon through the streets of Philadelphia back in 2013 when I was a hematology/oncology fellow. That was a life changing experience for me and over the past decade, I have truly embraced the notion that movement is medicine. Movement helps us in all aspects of our life - in both our physical and mental health.
Although I have run several marathons since then, NYC has always been on my marathon “bucket list” and I am honored to be running this year’s race on behalf of Sharsheret. Sharsheret is an incredible national non-profit organization that aims to improve the lives of Jewish women and families living with cancer or at increased genetic risk for breast or ovarian cancer. Although their expertise is in young women and Jewish families, Sharsheret programs serve all women and men.
As a medical oncologist, I specialize in breast and gynecologic cancers as well as in the treatment of young adults with cancer. Young women with cancer face many challenges including fertility, parenting, relationships, body image concerns, mental health issues and so much more. By joining Team Sharsheret, I have pledged to raise funds (which I hope to greatly exceed!) in support of Sharsheret's breast cancer and ovarian cancer programs and services, which are so greatly needed. I am asking you to please support me in my athletic and fundraising efforts as I take on this challenge. (Ask for corporate matching for your gift too. All contributions are tax-deductible).
