Everyone knows and loves someone who has been affected by breast cancer.
On October 29, 2012, my beloved mother, Myrna Greissman, passed away after a painful five-year battle with breast cancer. There was not a single person who didn’t love her—she truly touched everyone who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and strength left a lasting mark on the lives of so many.
Exactly three years later, on October 29, 2015, I went for what I thought would be a routine mammogram—and was diagnosed with breast cancer on the spot. What followed was a year-long journey that included three surgeries and four rounds of chemotherapy.
I consider myself incredibly lucky to now be healthy, with no lingering cancer or side effects for nearly 11 years. But the impact of this disease has shaped who I am in every way.
I run for Team Sharsheret in memory of my beautiful mother, Myrna Greissman. I miss her every single day.
