On March 15, 2026, I will run 13.1 miles through New York City. But for me, this race isn't about the running.
I am running in memory of my mother, whom we lost to pancreatic cancer in 2014. Her memory is with me every time I train, and she will be with me at the finish line.
Why Sharsheret? I am running for Sharsheret, a national non-profit supporting families facing hereditary cancer (breast and ovarian). This cause is deeply personal to me.
I am BRCA positive. This genetic reality is something my family lives with. I have personally benefited from Sharsheret’s work, specifically their educational seminars, which gave me the tools to have informed, difficult, and necessary conversations with my doctors and my family about our genetic risk. I know firsthand that their support works.
How You Can Help Sunni and I have a goal of raising $2,500 to fund Sharsheret's education and support programs. We've started it off with $180, but I need your help to cross the finish line. Please help us turn these miles into meaningful support for other families:
Any amount helps. If your employer offers matching gifts, that is the fastest way to double your impact.
Thank you for helping me honor my mom.
With gratitude, Ross & Sunni
