Dear Family and Friends-
11.5 years ago, somehow I "became a runner", how? I am not so sure, but I did. It started with running a 5k just to see if I could do it, and then all of the sudden, I got that "runners high", runners I knew, always talked about. Over the last 11.5 years I have run 3 half marathons, and countless other races of various distances, and a dream of mine has to been run a marathon, The Chicago one to be specific. I thought about running it for my 30th birthday, but injuries and mental blocks prevented me from training. Then, I thought maybe for my 35th birthday, but then the Marathon was on Simchas Torah and then cancelled by COVID so that was a no go. Finally, this coming year 7 weeks after my 37th birthday, I will FINALLY be participating in The Bank of America, Chicago Marathon and I could not be more excited. To say I am nervous is the understatement of the year and I am sure as I train over the next 10 months and until I cross that finish line on October 9, 2022 nerves will continue to be ever-present.
I have decided to run with Team Sharsheret as their mission and purpose in providing resources and support to those effected by Breast and Ovarian Cancer is one that means a lot to me. I have committed to raising $2500 for this very special organization and I know that with your help I can meet that goal. Any little bit helps. More than anything I will need all mental and moral support I can get from you.
Thank you in advance for all you do for me.
With love and admiration,
Rachel
