Dear Friends and Family,
I am very excited to share that I will be running for Team Sharsheret in the 2026 TCS NYC Marathon. I have already begun training by running the Central Park Half Marathon in February, and am grateful to undertake this challenge in support of Sharsheret, a national not-for-profit organization supporting Jewish women and families at high risk and those facing breast and ovarian cancer at every stage: before, during, and after diagnosis.
It is particularly meaningful for me to race on behalf of Sharsheret in honor of my two grandmothers and aunt who all fought and BEAT breast cancer. As the grandson and nephew of these three powerhouses, I am genuinely in awe of how impressive they are. I cannot pretend to understand how challenging it is to fight such a draining battle, and yet they did it with smiles on their faces, a will to fight, and all while being there for their children, partners, and friends. I look at them and am inspired; if running in a big circle can be the start to a long process of trying to end up like them, then sign me up! To me, running for this team means showing up for those who showed up for me. Sharsheret shows up with vital culturally relevant support to those who need it most.
I have pledged to raise $6,000 (which I hope to greatly exceed!) in support of Sharsheret's programs and services. I am asking you to please support me in my (somewhat) athletic and fundraising efforts. All contributions are tax-deductible, and please ask your employer if they will match your gift!
I'll be running alongside one of my best friends Lance, and we're both committed to making every mile count.
Thank you all so much for your support!
With gratitude,
Jacob
