I am very excited to announce that I will be running the 2023 NYC Marathon with Team Sharsheret. Running the NYC marathon has always been a dream of mine and having the ability to participate while giving back to such a worthwhile organization makes it all the more significant. Sharsheret is a not-for-profit organization which provides help and support for women and families faced with breast or ovarian cancer, as well as those who carry genes that can make them more susceptible to cancer.
Just two months after getting engaged, my fiancé, Genna, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Our world became a strange juxtaposition of doctor’s appointments and wedding plans, chemotherapy treatments and vendor meetings. We are learning that sometimes life throws you curve balls, and the best you can do is pivot and keep moving forward.
While we are at the starting line of this marathon, knowing that we have supports in place is helping guide us.
Sharsheret has provided support, both emotional and financial to both of us as we navigate this new reality. Their financial resources that are supported by events such as the marathon have helped offset some of the unforeseen costs of battling cancer. While this is all still new and fresh, knowing that they are there to help us is reassuring.
As a member of this incredible team, I have pledged to raise funds in support of Sharsheret’s breast cancer and ovarian cancer programs and services. I am asking you to please support me in my athletic and fundraising efforts as I take on this challenge. All contributions are tax deductible.
I look forward to crossing the finish line with same grace and determination that I see Genna exhibit each and every day. Thank you for supporting me in running the marathon, and for supporting Sharsheret at the same time.
