To honor my mom, Jodi, and to support Sharsheret’s vital cancer support programs, I will be running the 2025 United Airlines NYC Half Marathon as part of Team Sharsheret. I’ve committed to raising $2,500 for Sharsheret, though I’m hoping to exceed this goal significantly! Training is already underway, and each mile is motivated by the knowledge that I'm helping support families like ours facing cancer.
This past year, my mom has inspired us with her incredible strength since being diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2024. She recently finished the most intensive part of her treatment - surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation - and she's doing remarkably well. Those who know her can attest to how she's fought through each day, refusing to let cancer define her. Yes, she continued kayaking, hiking, continued supporting friends and family as much as she could, and even cooked Thanksgiving dinner for 10 during radiation.
Her medical journey navigated us through uncharted waters, guided by her exceptional care teams. Early in her diagnosis, she discovered Sharsheret, a national non-profit that provides critical support to Jewish women and families affected by breast and ovarian cancer. Their resources—including educational webinars, relevant Jewish spiritual experiences, and practical support—have been an integral part of her wellness journey. They also provide financial support for non-medical services like wigs and cold capping which can significantly improve a woman’s quality of life during treatment.
