Hello friends & fam!
I am so excited to share with you that I'm an official member of Team Sharsheret for the 2021 TCS New York City Marathon. I've dreamed of running the NYC marathon for so many years, but honestly never thought it I could hack it. Well, deep COVID anxiety did have a few perks. I did some running and made pretty good progress. So, here I go...
It's an honor to represent Sharsheret, an organization that holds a special place in my family's collective heart. Sharsheret is a national not-for-profit organization supporting women and families, at high risk and those facing breast and ovarian cancer at every stage-before, during and after diagnosis.
As you may know, my sister Jennifer was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 27. She was newly married, and about to embark on a new life with Jay when the walls crashed down around them. The women of Sharsheret stepped into her life immediately, providing love, guidance and support of all kinds during an unimaginably difficult time. They stuck by her through a bilateral mastectomy, several years of treatment, and when the cancer returned, they continued to show up with boundless support. We were blessed. Jennifer is healthy, cancer-free, and a killer mom to my sweet and sassy 3 y/o niece, Sadie :)
As a member of this incredible Team, I have pledged to raise funds (which I hope to greatly exceed!) in support of Sharsheret's breast cancer and ovarian cancer programs and services. I'm asking you to please support me as I take on this challenge. All contributions are tax-deductible.
