Hi, I’m Max Dayan from Chicago, welcome to my fundraising page!
I want to run all 6 World Marathon Majors and I am so so so excited to share with you that I am an official member of Team Sharsheret for the 2022 TCS NYC Marathon, a fantastic running community!
I grew up in a house where my mom battled various cancers and community is what kept her and us going. I hope to raise lots of money to help enable that supportive community for any family who needs.
My father ran the Chicago marathon every 10 years since 1981 and I was inspired to continue that family streak, so last year I trained for, and ran, the 2021 Chicago Marathon and caught the running bug.
I have already begun training for my race and am inspired to undertake this rigorous challenge as I am doing it in support of Sharsheret, a national not-for-profit organization supporting women and families, at high risk and those facing breast and ovarian cancer at every stage-before, during, and after diagnosis.
It is particularly meaningful for me to race on behalf of Sharsheret knowing the support they provide for friends who were touched by breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Sharsheret was the only organization that provided the vital culturally relevant support they were desperately seeking. As I continually hear about the wonderful resource Shasheret is for many friends and thousands of others locally and nationally, I wonder how I could do more. How can I make a difference? By taking on this personal challenge and joining with the other members of Team Sharsheret I have found my answer.
As a member of this incredible Team, I have pledged to raise funds (which I hope to greatly exceed!) in support of Sharsheret's breast cancer and ovarian cancer programs and services.
The cost to Sharsheret to provide a year of free comprehensive services per person/family is $1100. My goal is to raise $16,500 to provide these services to 15 women in memory of 15 years since I lost my mother, Bonnie to cancer.
I am asking you to please support me in my athletic and fundraising efforts as I take on this challenge. Ask for corporate matching for your gift too, My wife and I were already able to reach 1/5 of my goal and support 3 years of tailored resource materials that way! All contributions are tax-deductible.
Thank you all so much, in advance, for your support!
Best regards,
Max
