Dear Friends and Family,
We’re so excited to share that we are officially running the 2027 Life Time Miami Half Marathon together as members of Team Sharsheret!
For us, this is so much more than a race.
For years, Hannah insisted she wasn’t a runner. And for years, Isaac has been able to run miles without batting an eye. In high school, Hannah came up with every excuse imaginable to get out of running the mile in gym class. And Isaac ran a sub 6 minute mile. In college, Hannah chose the StairMaster over the treadmill every single time. And Isaac...well, he met Hannah and the rest is history.
After we moved to Washington, D.C., something in both of us shifted. Running became a way to challenge ourselves as adults, appreciate what our bodies can do, and eventually, something we loved to do together.
After October 7, running took on an entirely new meaning. Hannah and Isaac signed up for the D.C. Cherry Blossom 5K in honor of those who had to run for their lives at the Nova music festival and their kibbutzim. Crossing that finish line in tears, they realized that running could be more than putting one foot in front of the other. It could be an act of remembrance, resilience, and hope.
Those are also words that have come to define our relationship with Sharsheret.
Sharsheret has been part of Hannah’s family’s story for years. They stood beside her mom through two breast cancer diagnoses, providing support and resources through some of the most difficult and uncertain moments her family faced. Hannah grew up supporting Sharsheret, participating in campaigns and fundraisers and seeing firsthand what it means to have an organization like this in your corner.
Then, in the fall of 2025, that connection became much more personal.
Hannah learned that she carries a CHEK2 genetic mutation, and given her family history is at an 80% risk of developing breast cancer. Before she had even fully processed what it meant to become a previvor—someone living with an increased genetic risk of cancer—Sharsheret was the first place she turned.
Shortly after, Hannah underwent surgery to remove three breast masses. Thankfully, they were benign, but suddenly, Sharsheret was no longer only the organization that had supported Hannah’s mom or one that we had spent years championing from the outside. Hannah was now a previvor, and Sharsheret was there for us, too.
They were there through the uncertainty, the questions, the surgery, and the healing. We experienced firsthand the same compassion and guidance we had watched them provide to so many other women and families.
And that is what will make these 13.1 miles different.
When we cross that starting line together in Miami, every mile will represent something bigger than us: gratitude for Hannah’s mom and the survivors who came before us; strength for the women navigating diagnoses and impossible decisions right now; hope for Hannah’s own future; and support for the next woman who picks up the phone and needs Sharsheret to be on the other end.
It will also be a celebration of what it means to be proactive in the face of uncertainty. We can’t control everything that comes next, but we can choose what we do with what we know. For us, running this race together is one way of choosing hope.
Sharsheret supports women and families facing breast and ovarian cancer at every stage—before, during, and after diagnosis—with culturally relevant resources, education, and one-on-one support. We know personally how meaningful it is to have that kind of community in your corner.
As members of Team Sharsheret, we’ve committed to raising funds to ensure that support continues, and we would be incredibly grateful to have you alongside us. Please consider making a gift in support of our race. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps make sure that when another woman or family turns to Sharsheret, someone will be there to answer.
And, of course, we hope to blow our fundraising goal out of the water, because if we’re going to train for and run 13.1 miles together, we might as well make every single one count.
Thank you for cheering us on, supporting us, and helping us give back to an organization that has given our family so much.
We’re running toward a finish line, but more importantly, we’re running toward a future filled with hope, and we’re so grateful to have you running alongside us.
With love and gratitude,
Hannah & Isaac
