Dear Friends and Family,
I am so excited to share with you that I will be running the 2023 United Airlines NYC Half Marathon as a member of Team Sharsheret!
I am running in celebration of my 50th birthday, and in honor of my grandmother (who I never met) and all of the other young women with breast or ovarian cancer who didn't live to celebrate this birthday milestone.
For those who don't know, Sharsheret is a national not-for-profit organization supporting women and families at high risk for and/or facing breast or ovarian cancer at any stage -- before, during, and after diagnosis.
It is particularly meaningful for me to race on behalf of Sharsheret because I have personally witnessed the organization save and improve the lives of thousands of women and men -- through health education, genetic and psychosocial counseling, and financial subsidies. I have been honored to serve on Sharsheret's Board of Directors for the past 6 years and as Board President for the past 2 years.
Training and running with this special community of volunteers is such a meaningful way to mark my final year as Board President. As a member of Team Sharsheret, I have pledged to raise funds (which I hope to greatly exceed!) in support of our breast cancer and ovarian cancer programs and services. I am asking you (or your company) to please contribute to my athletic and fundraising efforts as I take on this challenge. All donations are tax-deductible.
