Dear Friends and Family,
I am excited to share with you that I am an official member of Team Sharsheret for the 2022
United Airlines NYC Half Marathon to be run on March 20, 2022.
As you may be aware, Sharsheret is a national not-for-profit organization supporting women and families facing breast and ovarian cancer at every stage - before, during, and after diagnosis.
In 2019 breast cancer touched us personally, as my wife was diagnosed at an early stage. As a physician I was fortunate to have the medical resources to seek out my wife’s best treatment. However, coping with the postoperative pain and the arduous healing process was made easier by the assistance and advice of Sharsheret. It is therefore particularly meaningful for me to race on behalf of Sharsheret because of the support they have provided for us personally, and for friends we know who have been touched by breast and ovarian cancer.
Personally, it has been a long slow road back to fitness after my hospitalization with severe Covid-19 pneumonia. I have been pushed on this endeavor by my daughter Devorah Oved and her husband Cary, who will also be running for Team Sharsheret. Additionally, our oldest daughter Meechal has surprised us all and will be coming all the way from London to run with us.
As a member of this incredible Team, I have pledged to raise desperately needed funds in support of Sharsheret’s numerous breast and ovarian cancer programs and services. I am asking you to please support me generously in my athletic and fundraising efforts as I take on this challenge. Of course, all contributions are tax-deductible.
