Dear Friends and Family,
I am so so so excited to share with you that I am an official member of Team Sharsheret for the 2024 United Airlines NYC Half.
I have already begun to train for my race, and am inspired to undertake this rigorous challenge as I am doing it in support of Sharsheret, a national not-for-profit organization supporting women and families, at high risk and those facing breast and ovarian cancer at every stage before, during, and after diagnosis.
It is particularly meaningful for me to race on behalf of Sharsheret because I grew up in a home where the threats of breast and ovarian cancer were constantly present. I saw my mom get tested every few months for genetic predispositions for breast/ovarian cancer, and the pattern of this disease in my family was scary. The transparency that the women in my life have shown me in their journeys of navigating their tests, genetics, or diagnoses has shown me the importance of a strong, supportive community. Last year, my mom ran this race on behalf of Sharsheret, and her hard work and dedication inspired me to do the same. Her commitment to this race, and Sharsheret generally, showed me her strength and passion for philanthropy, as Sharshret provides invaluable support to women.
How can I make a difference? By taking on this personal challenge and joining with the other members of Team Sharsheret to experience this great achievement.
As a member of this incredible Team, I have pledged to raise funds (which I hope to greatly exceed!!) in support of Sharsheret's breast cancer and ovarian cancer programs and services. I am asking you to please support me in my athletic and fundraising goals as I take on this challenge. All contributions are tax-deductible.
