I don’t know where to start. In 2020, I wanted to run the marathon to get back into running longer distances and as a milestone 10th anniversary to my 2010 Boston Marathon. A friend signed up for to support Sharsheret and I researched the organization. It’s amazing. It supports women and their families as they go through every stage of cancer.
The marathon got canceled because of covid.
A year and a half later and I am recovering from a major accident with PT and MT weekly and interesting doctor’s appointments and fascinating (though painful) treatments. I am itching to get back to running and I don’t know what my foot will let me do. But I am excited to find out.
A year and a half later and my best friend has breast cancer. Not the easy kind. She has the kind where she is wondering how many years she has left. The kind where she doesn’t know from day to day if she is going to feel well enough to get out of bed. I connected her with Sharsheret. They, in her words, “have offered her the entire world” for support. For herself. Her husband. Her kids.
SO together she and I are going to work on healing and raising money for this amazing organization and we are determined to get *her* a better quality of life and *me* across the finish line.
