We are two Jewish Dartmouth triathletes excited to embark on a ~500 mile biking journey from Hanover, New Hampshire to Baltimore, Maryland! Here are our stories:
Leo: When I was four years old, I was diagnosed with Stage IV Lymphoma, which upended my and my family's life. Suddenly my world of playgrounds and crayons became one of doctors, chemotherapy, and injections. 10 months and many rounds of chemotherapy later, I entered remission, as I have remained since.
In the wake of my diagnosis and recovery, I became passionate about fundraising to help those affected by cancer. As a kid, I'd love hosting lemonade stands on the street, and this developed into a love of fundraising for cancer organizations generally. I aspire to one day live in a world where no one is affected by cancer; no one has to go through what I did.
Alec: Sharsheret has provided my family with so much support through the years that my Aunt Shari went through breast cancer treatment. After her first treatment and remission, Aunt Shari's cancer returned as triple negative Stage IV, taking her away from us too soon. In her honor and for her children, parents, siblings, husband, and everyone else who loved her, this fundraiser aims to both support families who are going through the unimaginable while working towards a cure.
